Designer Spotlight: Chanel

The House of Chanel was founded in 1909 by Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, known to most as Coco. Setting trends, before there were trends to set- Coco's designs catered to the elegant and stylish woman of the 1920's. Creating suits, pants, jackets and jewelry that were much simpler and far less over the top than the standard style of the time. Chanel is still the iconic house of fashion that it was in the beginning, setting standards for elite luxury. Below are a few of our favorite Chanel pieces, as well as vintage jewels from here at House of Lavande.

Summer Essentials

summer essentials

Bright colors have been a big part of this years summer looks but why not try something different and wear warm colors to soften up your look throughout the day. Try these tips to incorporate these pieces into your wardrobe:

- Tan or nude shoes can help elongate you legs, especially with a dress, skirt or shorts.

- A tan bag doesn't look as harsh as a dark bag in the summer. Try a big hobo or shoulder bag in a light color this season and it will surely brighten up your look.

- A chambray shirt can help break up a too-neautral outfit. If you are too nervous going with all warm colors, wear a denim shirt or vest. Tie around your waist with a long skirt or skinny jeans for a cool, summer look.

- Jewelry is always fun to play around with but a simple multi-strand necklace or a pair of earrings in a coral color can add just that extra bit of sparkle and shine to your outfit this summer.

- Don't forget your sun protection!.. in the form of a hat that is. Be ultra chic this summer in a oversized tan hat. Not to mention it looks good with just about everything!

Mad for Monochrome

Iconic Woman Of Style: Katharine Hepburn

Katharine Hepburn, the feisty, free spirited, independent and progressive woman who has graced our television screens for over 60 years. She has won a record four academy awards for best leading actress throughout her highly successful career. Katharine spoke her mind, and was always up for a bit of witty banter in her unmistakeable New England accent. She broke all of the rules of her time by wearing loose fitting trousers, menswear style shirts, and always comfortable, flat shoes. Everyday staples of her wardrobe had a very large influence on the way women dress today. Her intelligence and talent rival her glamour and beauty, qualities that make her truly stand out from all the rest.
Keep it simple and classic, letting your jewels ad a subtle touch to your look.

The laid back menswear trend is in full swing these days. Throw on a button down with a statement necklace for a fun feminine twist to a masculine look.

Always remember, nothing is more stylish than a confident woman. Be comfortable in your own skin and with your own style. Try new things, and be daring.

Fall Beauty Trends: Our Favorites

The runway shows for fall and winter 2013 and resort 2013 were filled with gorgeous beauty trends and we've put together some of our favorites for you.

BRIGHT + COLORED LIPS
The runway shows for spring 2012 were full of bright colored lips and it seems that this trend is here to stay. Fall/Winter 2013 and Resort 2013 were full of bright and colored lips ranging from bright corals and pinks to purples and reds.
Try:
Le Metier de Beaute Limited Edition Spring Haute House Lip Creme Set or YSL Rouge Volupte

PASTEL EYES + NUDE LIPS
On the contrast, nude lips also made a big presence in the shows and will be quite the beauty trend this fall. Pair this with a pastel eye color like lavender and you'll have a gorgeous, chic look.
Try:
NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow in Strada with Tom Ford Lip Color in Blush Nude

BIG HAIR + DARK EYELASHES
Bring back the beehives and the fake eyelashes! We love this trend and can't wait to pull out our best glam looks this fall. Something about big hair and long eyelashes really makes your whole outfit and attitude feel glam and classic.
Try:
Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray and Dior Diorshow New Look Mascara
